Good controllers and heat, pad a bit thin, June 9, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Biddeford "Better"Heated Mattress Pad with Corner Straps, Queen (Kitchen) I was interested in this pad partly because of its economic price and partly because it uses elastic bands rather than a band around the edge to secure it. Those bands never seem to hold mattress pads securely, and they always seem to be made of some flimsy, easily melted, synthetic felt.
Anyway, the elastic straps hold it securely and the controllers are easy to use, if a bit big. I found it a bit confusing that the wires were so long until I realized the control wires plug in at the foot of the bed, not the head. There were no instructions, so I figured this out when the area under my pillow got too warm and my feet got too cold.
The pad seems a bit thin also. You can feel the wires a bit when laying on it. Its comfortable enough for my husband and me, so we kept it.

I also bought this at, what I thought was, the end of the cold season. Long story short, it's mid July in Seattle and it's being called the 78minute summer (the temp has climbed over 80 degrees for all of 78minutes this year). We're still sleeping with our down comforter and this heating pad! The dual controls on the king is freakin' awesome. My husband likes his a bit cooler than I, but both of us love the feeling of sleepy warmth it gives. Best of all the price is pretty reasonable for what you're getting. The pictures are accurate... the dials really do look that old fashion. It designed to sit on your night stand or other level surface, but doesn't sit very smoothly and is prone to wandering around the table top. It does seem to concentrate heat a bit. It heats either the northern or southern half, not both. I assume this so people won't overheat sleeping with it on all night, but there aren't any... Read more
