First of all, the Amazon description says 4 inches of latex, but Natura's home website says otherwise: "Core: 2 inches blended Talalay latex, 2 inches natural coconut coir" The other mattresses we saw that have a full four inches of latex foam were too expensive for us, so we opted for this much more affordable option. Now that we bought it and tested it, I think that four inches of the foam would actually be too soft. This combo of two inches foam and two inches coconut husk fiber may be a better, more supportive mattress. We are rather impressed with this product. The outer cover has a full zipper and is 85/15 cotton/poly and from the outside looks like any other crib mattress. The inner cover is a simple second layer of similar blend fabric with velcro-style closure. We are very happy that we could afford to have our baby sleep on natural latex foam and coconut husk fiber, rather than metal springs and fire retardant soaked polyester batting.
